Important Non-Player Characters

Welcome to the singing scenery of Amber, these are some of the more notable NPCs that have provided context, color and a lot of bother to the players of Dreaming in the Real.

The smaller trump images can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Alan Smithee
Alan is what Lentaro describes as "Telluria's equivalent to Dworkin", and was most likely Dworkin's shadow given reality by Lentaro and later the other character's constant presence in Shadow Telluria. He was the premier Tellurian researcher into the science of the Broken Pattern. Given additional data by the players during the course of the first Dreaming campaign, Alan introduced rampant and uncontrolled Pattern, Trump and Vitae based technology into a culture not prepared for it's destructive capability. Alan was killed shortly after the end of the first Dreaming campaign during the explosive destruction of the Tellurian League.

Airik Cho, City Steward
With the loss of Gerard to the fleet, the position of City Steward needed to be filled. Primarily a management position with no real need for a family members special abilities, Random saw the opportunity to not only get a knowledgable manager, but to restore some of the political capitol with House Cho lost with it's false accusations during the Oleai wars. Airik has proven a wise choice, managing Amber's infrastructure with intelligence and guile instead of Gerard's heavier hands.
Clarrissera
Daughter of a lesser (but aspiring!) noble house of Amber. Clarrissera was noted for her affection towards Aaron, finely tuned teeth, and breast related sound effects. Clarrissera eventually gave up on Erin after his/her sex change, but has remained active in the Amber social scene and has become a political force on her own.

Daren
Agent of Chaos or man with his own agenda, this mysterious man and his followers have already made an explosive entry into Amber.

Galen
Galen was first seen riding through shadow in a vision of Dalen's. Later, he appeared in her room at the White Rose and carted her off through shadow using vitae waveriding in order to bring her before Sh'shari. Dalen later escaped and over time they formed a tentative relationship and eventually trust that allowed the peaceful resolution of the Oleai war. Galen now lives in Helmwind helping his people adjust to non-nomadic life. While Oleai concept of central government is vague at best, Galen is the closest thing to a central governor they currently have.

The Gourd of Fiona, AKA: The Dark Master
The Dark Master was first discovered in the Land of the Milk Fed Boys. Aaron discovered it there as the natives tried to cheer up the unhappy Pattern Sword. The Dark Master looks like a squash vaguely in the shape of Fiona, and speaks dark secrets into Aaron's shattered little mind. The Gourd was eventually reshaped by Erin into her new body as part of the process of her recovering her sanity.

Grotto the Dog
Mythical child of Dworkin's dog and Deirdre, embodying the quintessential "Bad Stuff" character.

Kelarn
Kelarn is a Lord of House Jesby in Chaos, and a member of the Courts of Chaos' foreign relations division. He is an aquaintence of Lentaro's.

Lore
Lore is the eldest of Flora's children and known to be popular among the "bitchy" in the court of Amber. Lore has figured prominently in at least one of Dalen's visions, and many of the characters felt that he was involved with the enemy during the Oleai and Bright Pattern incidents. If he was, nothing could ever be proven and Lore continues to be very active in the Court of Amber. The divide between him and his sister Erin has only grown wider with time. He is known to many as a trump artist and sorceror.

Miranda
Last of the Cho bloodline, however under the table, the fate of the Great family rests on her young shoulders. Things are not looking up for the Chos.

Niro
First in service to Osric, Niro was his active hand in the world through much of the Bright Pattern conflict. He was eventually killed by Osric himself when he attempted an enraged rebellion during the end of the conflict.

Osric
Brother of Benedict and Finndo, Osric was the master of the Bright (Fire) Pattern in the ancient days of Amber and when sent to his death with his brother during one of Ambers conflicts Osric reached for the Bright Pattern during the moment of his death and while managing to use it to reclaim some semblence of life, he also dragged it half way into his death and isolated his Pattern and it's small circle of Shadows from the main universe. Trapped for thousands of years, he eventually found a way to enter the larger universe through the efforts of an experimental Trump artist in Chaos. He and his minions attempted to trade the curse on their Pattern with that of Kolvir's, restoring the Bright Pattern and Osric to full life while taking vengence on the children of Oberon. He was twarted by the player characters towards the end of the first Dreaming campaign and slain by Caine, allowing the Bright Pattern to be restored.

Raphaella
A house guest of Flora's. Aside from being perky and friendly, she's known for having killer hair (literally), and an ability to do sculptures that open up portals to hell. Raphaella continues to sculpt and is often contracted by Flora for corporate sculpture work (sans the hell portal portions...generally).

Sh'shari
Sh'shari was the leader of the faction of Oleai that wished to actively destroy Amber and return the universe to it's previous form. Oleai do not follow leaders as much as they decide to accept a philosophy or concept, accepting a certain individual as they embodiment of that concept. She was eventually defeated and killed in a ritual combat by Dalen who challenged Sh'shari's philosophy with her philosophy of peaceful co-existance. Dalen then became Sh'dalen, and the majority of the Oleai accepted her philosophy as stronger and switched their loyality (in this matter at least) to her.
